A Slip Sheath is a simple yet elegant way to show off a knife that you may not carry often. This particular sheath was made for a knife created by Russell Gale, Custom Woodworker in Asheville, NC. Russell contacted me a while back as he was looking for a custom knife sheath maker to create a sheath for a knife he made for a customer in New Jersey. After communicating with the customer this is what we came up with. It is a simple slip sheath made of 3-4 oz. vegetable tanned tooling leather dyed a dark brown. The sheath is lined with red pigskin and the edges have been lightly dyed in order to show off the layering of the blade spacer and filet. I use vegetable tanned tooling leather quite often as it dyes well, molds very well and edges smoothly. This particular sheath design starts at $150.00.
If you would like to see some exquisite custom wood work please visit Russell's we page here. Russell and I communicate from time to time as we both are craftsmen from North Carolina and enjoy talking and collaborating. I hope to work with Russell on a few other projects so stay tuned. The customer for this particular piece must like our work as she has ordered a custom document envelope and is awaiting the new iPad mini so she can order a custom iPad mini portfolio. DH
I’m looking for a sheath for a Buck Knife, 0120BRS Cocobola Dymondwood General Knife. It normally cmes with a belt sheath that carries vertically, I’m looking to carry it horizontally or at a slight tip down angle in the middle of my back. Nothing fancy, straight utilitarian. Is that something you can do?
