First off, you need to read this as I am not the original maker of the Jurassic Park Sheath and Leatherman Pouch. However, the legal licensing for the sheath and pouch have been passed to me by the original maker Dennis of Dragon Leatherworks in Oak Ridge, TN.
Second, these are $150 each plus S&H. The Multi-tool pouch can be made to fit your particular tool. The sheath is specifically made for the knife made by Steve.
The knife is custom made for the movie by Steve Auvenshine in Paris, Kentucky. The sheath and Leatherman pouch were made by Dennis in Oak Ridge, TN who had a business called Dragon Leatherworks (now gone unfortunately). As my company Dragonthorn Leatherworks sounds similar to Dragon Leatherworks and as the Dragon Leatherworks website no longer exists the search engines consistently found me as the creator of the leather items for the movie. As such, I have been consistently requested to make the items for collectors.
Now, in the high end custom leather business we few high end makers are a pretty tight lot and are very careful not to copy/steal others work. So, being part of that group I consistently told interested buyers that I did not make them, Dennis did but he is apparently out of business and if they cannot locate him then let me know and Ill see what I can do. This came to a head with the release of the movie on streaming and I started receiving multiple emails weekly wanting the sheaths. I figured I would do my best to locate Dennis and let him know where I am at in all of this and see what he wanted me to do. Well, through my many contacts in the business I found an old phone number and called him. Did not get him live so had to leave a message. Lo and behold he called me back the next day.
Dennis explained his situation and advised that he was not going to produce these anymore due to his circumstances (and this is where it gets interesting). He further advised that in all his years of making these items I was the first individual and custom maker that reached out to him vs just going ahead and copying/stealing his work. Further he advised that due to my work quality (he apparently kept up with me and had heard good things from others) and my asking what to do he decided to give me the license for the sheath and Leatherman pouch as long as I followed the original licensing requirements. The restrictions basically are that the sheath itself can only be made for the actual knives made by Steve Auvenshine for the movie. Steve does still make these but I am uncertain what the time frames are for orders. This restriction may change but Ive got to confirm with Steve and see what he has to say.
So, there you have it. I have received the documents necessary for the proper licensing along with the original patterns and leather dye recipes. The Leatherman pouch does not have the same licensing restrictions as the sheath so I can make some minor adjustments as necessary.
There are many fakes on the internet some not bad, some really awful. The ones that I will produce however are the original fully and properly licensed to me by the original maker. So, there you have it. DH
PS, I know my cutting board is upside down. I've about worn it out right side up so I turned it around to give it more life. I mean heh, I can still read numbers upside down!
PSS, The one in the pics is for a left hand draw. Just saying.
I was hoping you could make me a right handed draw Jurassic sheath and a matching knife, I did read Dennis still makes the knife and hoped to get one. Thanks.
Jason, sent you a couple of emails concerning this. Dave
