“Hawg Hunter” Custom Leather Knife Sheath

“Hawg Hunter” Custom Leather Knife Sheath

Honestly, this one was fun. Received a telephone call from a gentlemen in West Virginia that wondered if I could do something “interesting” for his Tops Prather War Bowie. He and his buddy like to hog hunt (hawg as we say it in the south). He wanted something in leather vs. the nylon sheath that comes with it. He also wanted to be able to carry it vertical or horizontal on his belt or pack and to be able to strap it to his leg. I have also included images of his buddies sheath to show the variation based on different knives in the same sheath style. This custom leather knife sheath has the capability to accomplish all of the above. This sheath is constructed...

Leather Slip Knife Sheath with snap for Hartsook Skinner©

Leather Slip Knife Sheath with snap for Hartsook Skinner©

This leather slip knife sheath with a snap for Doug Hartsook’s Skinner© is a nice piece of work!, even if I do say so myself. The knife obviously speaks for itself. The sheath is another matter entirely. Allow me this opportunity to introduce Buck Early, sheath designer. Buck’s my best friend and we met through our love for knives. I will be featuring a few of Bucks designs as this webpage moves forward. Needless to say, the man has a brain for sheath design. This piece is made of 5-6oz. oil tanned brown leather and is lined with a butterscotch suede. I have perfected a technique whereby the lining does not need to be stitched to the outer shell in order to...

Leather Pouch

Leather Pouch

Medium Leather Pouch. Perfect for strolling through the woods and carrying your favorite pipes and tobacco (or anything else that you may need to carry in a bit of style). This particular piece was created for a gentleman in Virginia that enjoys hiking in the great outdoors. I must admit I as well have enjoyed a good bowl of matured virginia while lounging on a mountain top. This particular bag is 7.5 inches wide from edge to edge with an inside width capacity of 7 inches. Height closed is 5 inches and the inside thickness is 2 inches. Holds two of my favorite Vermont made flame-grain free-hands, tobacco pouch, pipe cleaner case, Dunhill pipe lighter and a hand made...

Every Day Carry Dragon PCS – Pocket Carry System©

Every Day Carry Dragon PCS – Pocket Carry System©

The Dragon PCS© System for every day carry is probably the most difficult and yet the most simple to explain. Difficult, as the pictures show only a few of an infinite variety of possibilities. Simple, as the design and construction is only limited by what you carry daily in your pocket. The PCS featured above is one that was designed for a customer in France. For this one, I used 4-5 oz. horse hide, dyed a warm cognac brown and highlighted with contrasting orange stitching.  This PCS holds a small Altoids tin, a large Bic lighter, a Fisher Space Pin, a Derma Safe Knife, and has my signature slot for a guitar pick and coin.  Although I always think of this item as being...

Pocket Sheath

Pocket Sheath

Pocket Sheath, everybody needs one! I used to carry a Benchmade Mini AFCK in my right front pocket until I realized that every time I got out of my car it scraped my leather steering wheel. Then I shifted to a pocket sheath with a standard metal clip that didn’t do much better. Finally made myself a PCS and just carried my knife in my pocket. Not quite the same… About a two months ago I had a customer contact me about commissioning a pocket sheath for his Bark River PSK fixed blade ( 5.25″ short ). He originally wanted a standard pocket clip for the sheath and I recalled the difficulties with my clipped pocket sheaths. I had just purchased some...
