Nice review up on the fountain pen network…

Recently finished a custom hard-shell single pen case for a customer in Canada. I actually impressed even myself on this one. For all of you that are working on getting better at custom leatherwork, never think it can’t be done … just keep trying different things out until you determine “how” to get it done (also helps to have been working with leather for a couple of decades but heh, somebody’s got to do it)!!  Check out the review here. ...

Leather hide prices are going up… bummer…

Raw leather hide prices have gone up again gang. Wish it was not true but it is what it is. I will try and hold my prices where I can. For the larger items I will be making a few adjustments to the pricing over the next few weeks (spending more time in the shop and less on the computer). Many people may not realize that leather is no longer a raw material, it’s now a commodity. The differences in Domestic hides (Made in USA) vs. those made overseas (primarily Mexico) can be quite drastic. I may order my other supplies via the internet but I “always” hand select my leather hide by hide. I am very fortunate to have one of the better leather wholesalers about 1 hour from...

Added “Project Images” Page to the Web Site

In order to make it more convenient for prospective clients to view a complete photo list of all projects, I have created a new page called “Project Images” to collect all Dragonthorn projects on this web page in one location (the project image page can be viewed here). There is a wealth of info on this web page and project details are available in the “Portfolio” section of the menu bar at the top of each page. I do hope that this assists you in navigating the many options available for your next leather project.  Follow on past the break to get to the links or visit the menu bar above. ...

Dragon Smoke, a new light weight leather line from Dragonthorn

Well, where do we start this? Perhaps an explanation of my thoughts concerning custom leatherwork or actually any leatherwork at all. There are many great leather crafters on the market. Some are individuals such as myself. Some are companies that have extremely skilled craftsman working for them. I spend a good bit of time on the internet searching competitors and their products as well as specific products that turn up on review type websites. What I have determined over a period of time is really two things. One, much of the leather work products being produced today are heavy, good quality but heavy. Leather is normally not a light weight product. The thicker it is...
