How many of you have been searching for the “perfect” iPad sleeve, case, pouch? We’ll, to me perfect means it’s exactly what you want. Everything in the place you want it, made out of the leather you want, not too bulky and really different. Looks like you just found it! I have been carrying an iPad 2 ever since they came out. Have tried every case and sleeve I can think of and although many are close, none gave me exactly what I wanted. Here’s my perfect sleeves description: Very thin, light weight, needs to hold my iPad, a small notebook, a pen and a stylus, a few business cards and a file folder. Thats it. Don’t need all of the other stuff. I need to be able to pull this out of my main bag and head to a meeting without making sure I have everything. An additional item you will note is the leather file folder in the background. There are times I need more than one file and sometimes its thick. So, I’ll grab the leather file folder (that matches by the way) and off I go. This case and leather folder are both made of 2-3oz. tooling leather so its very thin and supple yet strong enough to protect my iPad. In this case I elected not to line it as lining only adds bulk. Instead I sueded the back side of the leather to add softness and to protect the contents. The edges of both the sleeve and leather folder are rounded and burnished adding a nice polished edge to them. The sleeve also contains a removable divider containing three slots for a few business cards. The divider is designed to separate the compartments for the iPad and notebook. Is it absolutely necessary? No, but that would be your call. Remove the divider and the sleeve becomes even thinner. You do lose the business card slots but that’s not a problem on my end. I elected not to add any snaps or fasteners as again they add bulk. As well I don’t want anything hard on the sleeve to press against my iPad while it’s in my main bag. With everything that I carry in the sleeve it is less than 1″ thin. Empty it is 3/8″ thin. As far as other dimensions it is 13″ wide by 8 1/4″ tall. I increased the width in order to carry a standard size file folder in a pouch on the back. This extra width also allows me to carry a stylus and a pen. You can as well carry a small aftermarket iPad charger and sync cable inside if you prefer. Now, the key to this is fairly simple. If you would like anything different about it, no problem. Just let me know and I can make it however you’d like it.  The leather file folder is fairly simple as well. Made out of 2-3oz. tooling leather as well. I have also sueded the inside to add softness and to maintain thinness. The leather file folder is 13″ by 9 3/4″. Additionally it should be noted that the color of the sleeve and file folder will age to the color of the desk that the pictures were taken on. If you prefer a different color I can by all means accommodate. If you prefer the leather to stay its natural shade I can accomplish that as well by utilizing a high end waterproofing finish. The finish on this piece is a hand applied and rubbed Mink Oil. Base price as you see it is $250.00. The file folder is $40.00.  Your perfect iPad case has arrived.  DH

Just finished, a mini tablet portfolio! This piece was designed for a customer in Virginia to hold an iPad Mini, a Moleskine Cahier notebook, an iPhone 5, assorted pens/pencils, reading glasses, and s small set of business cards. In addition it has a gusseted flap on the back to hold up to 3 loaded letter size file folders. All of this an its only 1″ thick! (depending on just how you stuff it of course).  The design elements are similar to the “Ultimate iPad Case” by Dragonthorn  Leathersworks which includes top quality leather, sueded lining and no extras to increase its bulk. This particular case is made of 3-4oz. oil tanned leather with orange stitching (nice touch I think). The mini-tablet fits in a pouch on the front of the case with he  Moleskine Cahier notebook beside it. The cellphone (iPhone 5), pens, glasses and business cards are all in a removable sleeve in a pouch behind the tablet and notebook. The pouch on the back of the portfolio is fully gusseted and will hold up to .5″ of file folders and papers. I finished the edges a bit differently on this one. Oil tanned leather does not hold a burnish very well so I located some very high quality Italian Edge paint to finish it off. As info, Italian edge paint is the product used on most very high end bags, purses, and wallets and such. As these pieces are fully custom designed and built they can be made in any configuration to fit any size tablet by any manufacturer and can carry any selection of items. This iPad with keyboard play through case is another item in the “Dragon Smoke” light weight line from Dragonthorn Leatherworks. The customer that is using this baby specifically wanted a rustic/rugged, light weight, no frills case to carry both his iPad and his Logitech Ultra-Light Keyboard. What makes this case a bit different is that it is indeed “light weight”. So many iPad and Tablet cases on the market made to carry both the tablet and keyboard are so over designed that they are bulky as well as heavy. Electronics are heavy enough all by themselves so you really don’t need additional leather or layers that are not necessary. This case fits the bill perfectly.

This case is made of 3-4oz. vegetable tanned tooling leather which is treated with Fiebings Neetsfoot oil for protection and to give it a nice golden tone which will darken as it ages. It is not lined but instead has the interior (or backside of the hide) sueded for a soft touch and non-scratch protection. In addition the closure mechanism is magnetic which adds a nice touch. You will also note that the keyboard and tablet are held in place by utilizing only one strip of molded leather for each item. Why didn’t I add one at the top as well? Simple, it’s not needed. Once you slip the keyboard and tablet into their respective molded slots they remain secure, especially when the case is closed and latched with the magnet. The customer also requested that his specifically designed initials be carved into the front of the case for an extra touch.

This case starts at $200.00 as you see it. If you prefer not to have the hand carved initials deduct $25.00. I can as well create this case with any number of various closing mechanisms (magnets being just one of many).
