SOLD! But I can always make more. This Leather Wrist Brace was made for a customer that pretty much beats his pharmaceutical braces to death. As I understand it he goes through one of the fabric braces monthly. Whether just beating it up or “setting it on fire” as he says while welding his custom drag cars, they just don’t last nor support his damaged wrist properly. Apparently other leathersmiths he has contacted to create this stated “it can’t be done”. We’ll, yes it can…see? “Bruzer”, as he is called. contacted me a while back with this request and was kind enough to mail me an old brace that I could use both as a pattern and for internal parts for the new one. This leather wrist brace is made out of 5-6oz. oil tanned leather with a 1/8″ piece of foam sandwiched between the oil tanned outer shell and the suede lining. I can as well make this item out of Horween leather however the price will increase based on the cost of Horween leather at that time. The buckles are nickel plated while the straps are all riveted with nickel rivets for both strength and panache. This item is a prototype as I needed to construct it and get it to the customer for testing and suggestions for giving him a better fit. Think about it, if you have to wear something like this all day you definitely want to make sure that it fits perfectly. The final brace will be in the $250.00 – $300.00 range and note that larger braces for larger wrists will require more leather as well as increased cost for the use of Horween leather if you prefer. I’ve tried this on (my arm in the pic) and I assure you that your wrist will not move with this baby on. Next step is to create a “dress brace” for those times when he’s out and about on the town… hmmm, where could I go with that?! DH

How many of you have been searching for the “perfect” iPad sleeve, case, pouch? We’ll, to me perfect means it’s exactly what you want. Everything in the place you want it, made out of the leather you want, not too bulky and really different. Looks like you just found it! I have been carrying an iPad 2 ever since they came out. Have tried every case and sleeve I can think of and although many are close, none gave me exactly what I wanted. Here’s my perfect sleeves description: Very thin, light weight, needs to hold my iPad, a small notebook, a pen and a stylus, a few business cards and a file folder. Thats it. Don’t need all of the other stuff. I need to be able to pull this out of my main bag and head to a meeting without making sure I have everything. An additional item you will note is the leather file folder in the background. There are times I need more than one file and sometimes its thick. So, I’ll grab the leather file folder (that matches by the way) and off I go. This case and leather folder are both made of 2-3oz. tooling leather so its very thin and supple yet strong enough to protect my iPad. In this case I elected not to line it as lining only adds bulk. Instead I sueded the back side of the leather to add softness and to protect the contents. The edges of both the sleeve and leather folder are rounded and burnished adding a nice polished edge to them. The sleeve also contains a removable divider containing three slots for a few business cards. The divider is designed to separate the compartments for the iPad and notebook. Is it absolutely necessary? No, but that would be your call. Remove the divider and the sleeve becomes even thinner. You do lose the business card slots but that’s not a problem on my end. I elected not to add any snaps or fasteners as again they add bulk. As well I don’t want anything hard on the sleeve to press against my iPad while it’s in my main bag. With everything that I carry in the sleeve it is less than 1″ thin. Empty it is 3/8″ thin. As far as other dimensions it is 13″ wide by 8 1/4″ tall. I increased the width in order to carry a standard size file folder in a pouch on the back. This extra width also allows me to carry a stylus and a pen. You can as well carry a small aftermarket iPad charger and sync cable inside if you prefer. Now, the key to this is fairly simple. If you would like anything different about it, no problem. Just let me know and I can make it however you’d like it. The leather file folder is fairly simple as well. Made out of 2-3oz. tooling leather as well. I have also sueded the inside to add softness and to maintain thinness. The leather file folder is 13″ by 9 3/4″. Additionally it should be noted that the color of the sleeve and file folder will age to the color of the desk that the pictures were taken on. If you prefer a different color I can by all means accommodate. If you prefer the leather to stay its natural shade I can accomplish that as well by utilizing a high end waterproofing finish. The finish on this piece is a hand applied and rubbed Mink Oil. Base price as you see it is $250.00. The file folder is $40.00. Your perfect iPad case has arrived. DH

Custom Watchbands, you betcha. I’ve always enjoyed watches. I have a fairly rare Omega and various Seiko’s and other “not so rare” pieces. The Omega that I brought back with me from the UK years ago recently died so I bought a very functional new Seiko Divers Watch to use while the Omegas in the shop. The Seiko came with a rubber divers band and I wanted to try my hand at making a watch strap.

This strap is made of Frogskin with a brown Water Buffalo lining… get it… frog, water buffalo, divers watch? Never mind… The clasp for this piece is from RHD and is a stainless double-fold deployant style. The thread used is a nylon orange to compliment the Seiko watch face. As with all custom leather projects, the detail involved is a major piece of the price structure. The amount and type of leather used is important as well, however the intricate detail work will always play a major role.

I have not priced this piece as of yet but would be happy to discuss it with you. The variety of options on a watch band is mind boggling. Leather, stitching, clasps, pins, edging, etc. etc. The clasp on this particular band in itself is $50.00. As I said, give me a call and we can discuss what you are looking for. DH

The Automobile Document Pouch is a variation on the Document Envelope. My client owns a 2011 Z06 Corvette which has a red exterior with a black interior (He used to own a Mark IV VW R32, my baby). He wished to carry all Vette manuals and such in a more customized manner vs. the binder that came with the Vette. Due to the many manuals and such that are provided with the car we needed to increase the width of the pouch from the standard envelope width of .75″ up to 2″. Due to this is was necessary to use a gusseted side panel vs. the standard stitched sides in order to keep the pouch width accommodating for the glove box. The pouch is made with 3-4oz. vegetable tanned leather, is dyed with a high end professional oil dye and is finished with Fiebings Atom Wax Leather Balm. The lining is a red sueded pigskin for “pop” and contrast. In addition the client wished to have the “Z06” logo and the 1967 “Corvette Script” added to the pouch. In addition I painted the “Z” in “Z06” red for additional pazazz. This pouch as shown is $200.00 plus shipping and handling. Why use the document pouch that came with your high performance car when you can have this instead? …ask your neighbor as they drool…. DH
