What’s in the Portfolio

This portfolio contains examples of our work. Over the past years I have created so many different leather items that it would be difficult to list them all. You will note an “Older Work” menu item that contains simple pictures of various items that have been created in the past. I did this to allow new visitors and past customers to view many of the items that we had up on our old website. This “Portfolio” section will contain samples of our new work. You may either view the current work on this page or drill down a bit by using selecting the various categories form the drop down portfolio menu if you prefer. Knife by Hartsook.

Leather Pouch

Leather Pouch

Leather Pouch, perfect for strolling through the woods and carrying your favorite pipes and tobacco (or anything else that you may need to carry in a bit of style). This particular piece was created for a gentleman in Virginia that enjoys hiking in the great outdoors. I must admit I as well have enjoyed a good bowl of matured virginia while lounging on a mountain top. This particular bag is 7.5 inches wide from edge to edge with an inside width capacity of 7 inches. Height closed is 5 inches and the inside thickness is 2 inches. Holds two of my favorite Vermont made flame-grain free-hands, tobacco pouch, pipe cleaner case, Dunhill pipe lighter and a hand made (for me...

Kydex and Sheepskin Lined Sheath

Kydex and Sheepskin Lined Sheath

Kydex and Sheepskin Lined Sheath, …say what? I know, here I go again. I was contacted by a customer in California that had just purchased a Busse Combat Sarge 7. Now, as this is a $400.00 plus dollar knife the customer wanted a really nice piece of leather to show it off with, plus a way to keep it very well protected. Hence a combination leather, kydex and sheepskined lined piece of work. The outer leather shell of the sheath is constructed of 4-5 oz. Horsehide that has been dyed a medium cognac brown and is finished with Atom Wax. There is an attached loop for a Swedish Firesteel Army model. The belt loop  is designed for a high hip carry on the right side or...

Chefs Knife Bag

Chefs Knife Bag

Chefs Knife Bag, where else are you going to store and carry those insanely nice food prep knives you’ve bought? These pics are a bit older so I offer my apologies. This particular piece was custom made for a chef in Belgium. His wife was looking for something that none of his buddies had so she called me … from Belgium! Don’t mind the knives, not a good as professional chef’s use but they work fine for me and my tries at cooking good stuff. This is a particularly large piece as it is designed to carry 20 different knives and roll up into a “hang off your shoulder” bag to carry from kitchen to kitchen or home to kitchen. As you may...

Leather Slip Knife Sheath with snap for Hartsook Skinner©

Leather Slip Knife Sheath with snap for Hartsook Skinner©

This leather slip knife sheath with snap for Doug Hartsook’s Skinner© is a nice piece of work!, even if I do say so myself. The knife obviously speaks for itself. The sheath is another matter entirely. Allow me this opportunity to introduce Buck Early, sheath designer. Buck’s my best friend and we met through our love for knives. I will be featuring a few of Bucks designs as this webpage moves forward. Needless to say, the man has a brain for sheath design. This piece is made of 5-6oz. oil tanned brown leather and is lined with a butterscotch suede. I have perfected a technique whereby the lining does not need to be stitched to the outer shell in order to...

Pipe Rollup Bag

Pipe Rollup Bag

Pipe Rollup Bags, how else are you going to carry your Castello, perfect flame grain, Dublin? You have invested a small fortune into the pipes that you smoke and you should as well invest a smaller fortune in the bags that you carry them in. I started making these years ago for McCRanies Pipe Shop in Charlotte, NC. They were exclusive to McCranies at that time and did quite well. In fact, I understand that these particular bags are doing quite well in auctions in the UK (If you can find them). Well, they’re back! These Pipe Rollup Bags came in two configurations at the time, a two pipe and 6 pipe version. These bags are not something that I keep in stock and are...

Boot Knife Sheath – The “Right Way”

Boot Knife Sheath – The “Right Way”

Boot Knife Sheath, done the correct way. Have you ever noticed that all boot knife sheaths seem to be made wrong? You know what I mean, the clip forces you to carry the knife either outside of your boot “or” if you carry it inside your boot (which makes the most sense) the handle of the knife is up against your leg instead of the soft leather being against your leg as it should be. Herein lies the serious advantage in custom leather knife sheaths … you can have it made the “right way”. On this page are a few examples of boot knife sheaths I have created. They are designed properly so that the clip holds your knife on the “inside”...

Multi Tool Belt Pouch

Multi Tool Belt Pouch

A multi tool belt pouch is a must for one of the coolest things  to go on your belt, multi tools. Small, relatively light weight and more gadgets than most tool boxes have. This project was yet another interesting one. I received an email from a women in Zambia (yes, Zambia) who wanted something special for her husband on their wedding anniversary. Her husband works at a golf course in Solwezi, Zambia and uses his Leatherman multi-tool daily. She wanted a custom pouch for the leatherman, with her husbands name carved into the front and a quote carved into the back. I took it a step further and carved his signature on the front flap. Pouches can be difficult to get...
